Identity card (cédula)

Where to get it

At the DNIC. It is mandatory for everyone, including children from 45 days old. It requires a Residence Certificate from the National Migration Directorate (DNM) and the birth certificate registered in the Foreigners Section of the Civil Registry.

Provisional route (key if you entered by land border)

If you are missing documents, a provisional ID can be issued with the DNM residence certificate and your birth certificate. It lets you start existing legally without having everything in order.
